Good afternoon member of the press and all!
On behalf of the Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia, I would like to brief and re-emphasize the government’s stance concerning the border dispute with Thailand to our fellow Cambodians and the international community.
First, as a nation that has overcome and sacrificed everything to enforce and achieve the hard-earned peace through the win-win policy of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the former prime minister, peace is still considered as the backbone of the country’s development by the current leadership of SamdechThipadei Hun Manet, prime minister of Cambodia. Therefore, Cambodia is firmly committed to resolving border issues peacefully through technical and international legal mechanisms.
Second, Cambodia firmly honors all terms and conditions of the ceasefire agreement reached on July 28, 2025, during a special meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia, hosted by Malaysia, co-organized by the United States of America, and with active participation from the People’s Republic of China. This ceasefire agreement officially came into effect at midnight on the same day. Cambodia considers this ceasefire agreement to be tremendously beneficial in ending damage to the military forces, civilians, and economy of both countries, as well as the impact on regional security as a whole.
Third, Cambodia strongly upholds the 13-point agreed minutes adopted in the extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee, GBC, held on August 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the observation of Malaysia, the United States of America, and the People’s Republic of China. Cambodia also welcomes the positive results yielded in the extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee, or BC, held on August 16, 2025, in Trat Province, Thailand.
In conclusion, Cambodia has clearly and transparently demonstrated its firm stance since prior to the armed classes until now. In this manner, it is undoubtedly clear that both the Cambodian and international communities realize the intention and heartfelt commitment of Cambodian top leaders in honoring peace and resolving conflicts through peaceful means.Thank you
