As of today, the ceasefire agreement between the Cambodian and Thai armed forces turned exactly one month, from July 28 to August 28, 2025. During this period, Cambodia has diligently respected and fully implemented all the terms of the agreement, and the value placed on the ceasefire reflects a profound regard for human life, as well as the compassionate, pacifist mindset of Cambodian leadership and its citizens. This is demonstrated by actions that go beyond words.
Cambodia has shown its sincere and faithful commitment to peace and the well-being of its people. This is what makes the pacifist heart of Cambodian leadership widely acknowledged, both domestically and internationally. For instance, in a letter from President Donald J. Trump, addressed to Samdech MohaBorvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, dated August 20, 2025, which was publicly announced by Samdech Thipadei just yesterday, the President of the United States highlighted that Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister is a strong leader who values human life and appreciates peace.
This positive assessment was made after the president learned about Cambodian law and history, especially following the telephone conversation with the Cambodian prime minister in his genuine effort to call for a ceasefire with Thailand. It is important to note that Cambodian law for peace and the value of human life are clearly verified through the sacrifices made by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister, who fought to liberate and save the millions of Cambodian people from the genocidal regime. Moreover, Samdech Techo Hun Sen has successfully attained hard-earned peace for our motherland through win-win policies.
This splendid tradition has been continued by SamdechThipadei, Prime Minister, who has validated with his unwavering commitment to respecting the ceasefire agreement with patience and high responsibility under the spirit of pacifism and valuing human life, as reflected in the assessment made by President Donald J. Trump, as well as many other foreign leaders.
