From 00:01 AM to 6:00 AM on 7 August 2025, the situation along the frontlines in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remained calm and stable. The Cambodian Armed Forces maintained full vigilance and the highest level of caution in carrying out their duties.
The Cambodian Armed Forces remained steadfast in their commitment to upholding and implementing the ceasefire agreement reached on 28 July 2025 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to this ceasefire agreement, which was achieved through the leading efforts of His Excellency Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, with the active participation of the People’s Republic of China. This ceasefire—widely welcomed by the international community—reflects a shared aspiration for peace and stability in the region.
As a responsible and peace-loving nation, Cambodia has strictly observed the terms of the ceasefire, consistently prioritizing dialogue and cooperation over confrontation and conflict. This unwavering commitment reflects Cambodia’s profound respect for the tireless efforts of our international partners and our sincere aspiration to contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
On 4 August 2025, His Excellency General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, led a high-level military delegation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to the extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting was observed by representatives from Malaysia, the United States of America, and the People’s Republic of China.
On 5 August 2025, His Excellency General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, along with a senior delegation from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, held a meeting in Malaysia with General Mohamed Nizam, Commander-in-Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and his senior officials. During the meeting, the Malaysian side expressed its readiness to facilitate the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand by supporting the development of a Terms of Reference (ToR) as a foundational step toward the establishment of the ASEAN–Malaysia Treaty. This framework would pave the way for the formation of the ASEAN–Malaysia Monitoring Team (AMT), which is expected to serve as an effective mechanism for monitoring and enforcing the ceasefire, thereby contributing to the swift restoration of peace in the region.
His Excellency General Mohamed Nizam shared a series of profound remarks, stating, “Peace is expensive, life is precious, and time is of the essence.” His message echoed the words of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, who affirmed, “Every day, hour, and minute spent on negotiation can save the lives of our forces and our people—the sooner, the better.”
Over the past three days, the GBC Secretariat teams of both countries have engaged in a constructive and positive exchange, addressing many important issues. Several of Cambodia’s proposals were accepted by the Thai side, while Cambodia, in turn, agreed to a number of constructive points put forward by Thailand.
