Keynote Address by H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC):

His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn meeting with His Excellency SUZUKI Hideo, Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. On the morning of 27 August 2025, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, had a meeting with His Excellency SUZUKI Hideo, Ambassador for Mekong Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

During the meeting, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn and His Excellency Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo expressed their satisfaction with the continued progress in bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Japan, including political cooperation, trade, investment, security, development cooperation, mine clearance, and the removal of explosive remnants of war, both within bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador also exchanged views on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, underscoring the importance of promoting peace and restoring Cambodia-Thailand relations to normalcy through the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreements, exercising utmost restraint, promoting engagements at all levels, and exploring possibilities for humanitarian demining.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister also expressed, on behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Japan for its continued contribution and support to the causes of peace, development, and humanitarian assistance to displaced people along the border at this time.
