Intervention by H.E. Pen Bona, Royal Government Spokesperson:

As the Spokesperson for the Royal Government of Cambodia, I’d like to reiterate to our fellow citizens that the peace-loving international community is closely observing the ongoing implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. As the Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, [H.E. LTG. Maly Socheata] has previously stated, a working group of foreign military attachés has once again travelled to the border provinces. Recently, these affected areas have also been visited by the Interim Observer Team, together with representatives of the diplomatic corps and military attachés from foreign embassies accredited to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Therefore, the implementation of the ceasefire agreement is under the close and vigilant monitoring of the international community, particularly three key nations—the United States, China, and Malaysia. I wish to reaffirm to our fellow citizens that Cambodia has fully and strictly honored this ceasefire, and we trust that no party will undermine this agreement. In this regard, I call upon our people to place their confidence in the steadfast leadership that remains firmly committed to peace. Cambodians across the nation cherish this hard-earned peace, which reflects the shared aspirations of the international community. I emphasize this to ensure that Cambodians, both at home and abroad, remain assured and steadfast in their confidence in the Royal Government and our leaders.
